Christmas at the Station

It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas at McAdam Railway Station

Take McAdam Railway Station - a provincial and national treasure, gather a village of volunteers, and decorate every nook and cranny to create a holiday wonderland. Next, add lights, glitter and sparkle, and a well-timed snowstorm. Bake cookies for the children, and make an abundance of hot apple cider. Add festive music - a carol… “It’s Beginning to Look a lot like Christmas,” then have the stationmaster open the doors and welcome visitors to Christmas at the Station. Admirers of all ages will smile and marvel in childlike wonder. It is a magical recipe for an enchanting event that will be happening from 2-8 pm at the McAdam Railway Station from November 14th to 17th, 2024, and again from November 21st to November 24th, 2024. Please note that the station will be closed from November 18th to November 20th, 2024 for ongoing projects to enhance your experience. Cost is only $15 per person and free for children 12 and under! Each ticket includes a cozy cup of hot apple cider to warm you as you wander through our beautifully themed rooms.

Enjoy my collection of experiences from past years then plan your visit to McAdam Railway Station to be part of this delightful tradition.

There is Just Something About McAdam Railway Station

McAdam Railway Station has long cast a spell on me. Every time I step out of my vehicle and glance up at its majestic, architectural beauty, I’m transported back in time. There's just something about this place—the history, the people, and their stories—that captivates me. I dream of it becoming a fully functioning grand hotel again, filled with new people and new stories, shining brightly once more. For now, we have the special events that the whole village of McAdam comes together to put on. Christmas at the Station is one of my absolute favourites!

At Christmas, McAdam Railway Station is Downright Magical

McAdam Railway Station was modelled after a Scottish castle with Gothic, Baroque, and Victorian style architecture. Sir William Van Horne, who built the Canadian Pacific Railway, commissioned the station. Architect Edward Maxwell and W.H. Joseph McVay & sons were directly responsible for construction.  It is a marvel of architecture but it is also more than that. It is alive with its glorious historical past. And at Christmas, McAdam Railway Station is downright magical.

McAdam Railway Station will Cast Its Spell on You

Yes, I am smitten, but I am not alone, come and see for yourself. McAdam Railway Station will cast its spell on you, too! Visit several times a year, throughout every season, as the volunteers from the village of McAdam offer several events to help raise money to keep their community’s dream alive of seeing this grand lady rise again to all her splendour.
